Azorean Stories is coming back!
Wow, I cannot believe it has been three years since I properly worked on this project. Life truly took some wild turns and the capacity for handling another project while dealing with personal issues, health issues, and a house renovation, has been missing for a while. But the time has finally come. Azorean Stories will return. However, with some slight changes.
When I first started Azorean Stories, it was supposed to become a community project with multiple authors, telling the stories of different people on the Azores – both local and immigrants, as well has history and legend of the entire archipelago. This did not quite work out, due to a variety of reasons.
I still aim to introduce you to different island people, different projects, and interesting facts about the islands, but this will additionally also become a blog. About the Azores, life on the islands (specifically Pico Island) and my own, personal experience here.
“You fell in love with this island. And it fell in love with you.”
So let me introduce myself: My name is Tasmin and I lost my heart to the Azores in 2015 for the first time during a vacation and then a second time in 2018 while working on Pico for the summer. I have worked in the tourism industry for a while, for example as a tour guide on the archipelago, and have since become an author and freelancer, working from the old traditional stone house I have renovated over the last few years with my partner. I have 2 cats, too many books and an undying love for Kima.
If you want to get to know me a little better, check out my YouTube channel, where I have documented some of my journey over the last few years. You can also find me on Instagram if you wish, but Azorean Stories has it’s own account over there. If you want to learn more about the books I write, head over here.
A friend once told me “You fell in love with this island. And it fell in love with you.” I carry this love with me every day and I hope to bring some of it to you, with interesting stories, personal insights and beautiful photos.
There will be some changes to this page over the next few weeks and months, but there will also be new content, new stories, new adventures. I hope you will join me!
